Our community boasts many community events throughout the holiday season to get you into a festive mood. From the City Hall tree lighting, various craft fairs, our Sweet Home Community Singing Christmas Tree performances, giant Yard Christmas Cards displayed at homes & businesses, our downtown lighted parade, and even a Gingerbread House competition. Gingerbread Competition

Calling All Gingerbread Creators and Enthusiasts!

Get ready to show off your sweet skills at the 6th Annual Gingerbread Competition hosted by the Sweet Home Chamber of Commerce! Whether you're a master builder or just love the festive fun, this is your chance to compete or simply enjoy the beauty and creativity of handcrafted gingerbread houses. This event is open to all, and participation is FREE!

Event Details:
Date: Saturday, November 30, 2024
Location: Sweet Home City Hall, 3225 Main Street
Entry Drop-Off: 2:00pm - 4:00pm
Judging Begins: After 4:15pm
Public Viewing & People's Choice Voting: 5:00pm - 7:00pm

Gather your family and friends for a cozy evening as you admire the fantastic gingerbread creations before and after Sweet Home City Hall Tree Lighting! The competition has categories for all ages:

  • Child (5-8 years old)
  • Youth (9-12 years old)
  • Teen (13-17 years old)
  • Adult (18+ years old)
  • Group/Family
  • People's Choice

2024 Sweet Home Parade of Lights

Welcome to the 2024 Sweet Home Parade of Lights presented by Pacific Power! 

This year's theme, "Sweet Lights & Ginger Delights," celebrates the sweetness of Sugar City with a dazzling display of gingerbread and candy-themed floats. Get ready to light up the night with creativity and color!

Theme: "Sweet Lights & Ginger Delights"

  • Incorporate gingerbread and candy elements into your float, such as gingerbread houses, candy canes, gumdrops, lollipops, and candy swirls.
  • Bright, colorful lighting is a must! Use a minimum of 1,000 lights per float to ensure your gingerbread and candy designs shine in the nighttime parade.
  • Oversized props and costumes are encouraged! Let your creativity sparkle by creating larger-than-life gingerbread figures and candyland scenes.
