The Sportsman's Holiday Princesses are a phenomenal group of Sweet Home sweeties that clean up nice and already have a firm foot in the hustle and bustle of Sweet Home. As working women in our community and heavily involved community members, they have what it takes to represent this amazing town during their reign and for many years to come. Becoming A Princess
The Court is composed of 3-5 members. The selection process consists of:  
• Completion of the following application and submission via email to  
sportsmansholidayscourt@gmail.com no later than 9:00PM April 15, 2022 (or postmarked by April 13,  2022, to Sweet Home Chamber of Commerce 1575 Main St. Sweet Home, OR 97386) • Informational meeting for prospective Candidates and their parent(s)/guardian(s), to be held on  Tuesday, April 12, 2022, addressing participation requirements and expectations. 
• Individual interview with a panel of judges to select the final 5 Court to be held Wednesday, April 26,  2022 (interview times will be emailed out after the submission deadline) 
• Announcement of the 2022 Sweet Home Sportsman’s Holiday Senior Court 
 If you have any conflicts with any dates listed, please contact us before submitting your application. 
Court members will be provided all necessary articles of clothing for official court appearances and events,  including, but not limited to: evening gown, day dress, shoes, festival t-shirt/sweatshirt, tiara, sash, jewelry.  Also provided will be professional photos, both individual and group, as well as any necessary food or lodging  during appearances.  
In acknowledgment of your efforts to represent Sweet Home and Sportsman’s Holiday, scholarships will be  awarded based on eligibility and judging during Coronation. All court members will be eligible to receive a  minimum of $500 in scholarships. The Queen will also receive an additional $500 in scholarships. Miss  Congeniality will receive an additional $250. Total scholarship amounts change yearly based on community  contributions and funding availability. All Princesses are expected to participate in fundraising and soliciting  sponsorships for the Court.

Applicant Qualifications: 
• Attend school at Sweet Home High School, East Linn Christian Academy, any Sweet Home area private or charter  school, or Homeschooled with a Sweet Home area residence.  
• Must have a cumulative 3.00 GPA or higher 
• Must be a junior in high school or have a junior ranking if homeschooled.  
• Must be at least 16 years old by January 1, 2022.  
• Complete initial application and submit it before the stated deadline.  
Selection Process: 
1. All eligible candidates who submit a completed application prior to the deadline will be considered. 
2. Prospective candidates along with their parent(s) or guardian(s) should attend an informational meeting on  Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at 7pm in the Sweet Home High School Library, to cover all court requirements,  family expectations, and answer any questions applicants may have regarding the experience of being a  Sportsman Holiday Princess.  
3. The top 10 candidates based on their application will be emailed to schedule a brief interview on Tuesday,  April 26th, with a review panel of at least three judges. Each judge will ask pre-determined questions of the  candidate, with the possibility of follow-up questions regarding her application.  
4. The top candidates will be selected based on the highest cumulative scores across all judging criteria. Each  candidate will be notified regarding her standing by phone or email within 3 days of the panel interview. ​

History of the Sportsman's Holiday

 Sportsman’s Holiday began in 1959 in conjunction with the Oregon Centennial. At various times through the years the celebration offered a logging show, log truck competition, rodeo, grand parade, talent show, frog jumping, gold panning, 10K run, car shows, square dancing, gun shows, treasure hunt put on by White’s Electronics, junior parade and junior court, bed races, greased pig contest, fishing contest, sporting contest, boat parade, speed boat races, fireworks display, tube-a-thon, the princess court with a queen’s coronation and more.In 1959, Trudy Adams was crowned Queen and she, along with her court, and the Centennial Band went on a ten-community tour. The group traveled through Holley, Crawfordsville, Brownsville, Halsey, Shedd, Tangent, Albany, Jefferson, Scio and Lebanon to advertise Sweet Home’s first Sportsman’s Holiday.
